Brad Pitt Biography

William Bradley Pitt was born December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma into an old-fashioned traditional household. The oldest child, Pitt, his brother Doug and sister Julie were kept extremely busy with extracuricular activities and school groups while attending Kickapoo High School. When he wasn't singing in school musicals, playing sports at school, or on the debating team, his father Bill ensured he go to church regularly.

Although Pitt had always a movie fan in his youth, he decided to focus his studies at the University of Missouri on journalism and advertising. A regular college kid, he frequently partied at the frats.

The journalism bug not biting him, Pitt left the world of college two credits shy of graduating to pursue his acting career. Constructing an elaborate web of lies, Pitt told his parents that he was heading to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, fearing that they wouldn't let him go otherwise.

With just over $300 to his name, Pitt was ready for prime time. Unfortunately Hollywood was not, and so for a while he was reduced to donning a chicken suit for El Pollo Loco, moving refrigerators and other equipment, even going as far as to serve as a limo driver for ladies of the night (hookers). Funding several acting classes, these odd jobs paid off when he landed a short term role as Randy on Dallas and Chris on Another World.

After several bit roles in No Man's Land and Less Than Zero, he landed a role that was noticed. Pitt gained recognition as shady theif J.D. in 1991's Thelma and Louise. His 14 minute performance in that film opened the eyes of many in Hollywood, and finally the roles began to pour in.

At first it was a trickle, with Pitt appearing in Johnny Suede, and in 1992's awful Cool World with Kim Basinger. After starring in Robert Redford's A River Runs Through It, Pitt appeared in crime-related films such as True Romance and Kalifornia. His luck seemed to be turning around. unfortunately, it was his role in the epic chick-flick Legends of the Fall that had him recognized as People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1995. Seemingly a blessing, this recognition served to hound him. Feering he'd be typcast as the "pretty-boy" actor, Pitt resolved to push each performance to the limit. His next several films, including A River Runs Through It and Interview With The Vampire garnered him great praise, adding more layers to his Hollywood image.

His interest in odd charactes brough him to the role of Detective David Mills in David Fincher's Se7en, alongside his girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow. That same year he gave an even better perfomance as Jeffrey Goines in 12 Monkeys, a role which earned him a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actor. His acting chops developing nicely, he then appeared as a lawyer in the 1996 drama, Sleepers, and put on an Irish accent to portray an I.R.A. terrorist in the unfortunate The Devil's Own, co-starring Harrison Ford.

Pitt starred in 7 Years In Tibet in 1997, and played Death in Meet Joe Black, alongside Claire Forlani and Anthony Hopkins. Reuniting with director David Fincher, his portrayal of eccentric and intriguing Tyler Durden in Fight Club was outstanding, perhaps his best to date.

His professional career fully on track, Pitt settled down with Friends star Jennifer Aniston, tieing the knot after a highly publicized long-term courtship, on July 29th, 2000.

Pitt continued his streak of oddball characters as Gypsy Mickey O'Neil in Guy Ritchie's Snatch, and as the bumbling hsband of Julia Roberts in The Mexican. His most recent performances in the excellent ensemble piece Ocean's Eleven, and Spy Game, with Robert Redford, continue his streak of great performances. He can be next seen in Full Frontal.
