Born and raised in Bronx, N.Y., Alexander got his start in entertainment as a dancer and choreographer, working with the rap trio sensation Salt 'N Pepa, in addition to recording stars Queen Latifah, Toni Tony Toné¬ Heavy D and the Boys, and Mary J. Blige. He was also an assistant choreographer for the feature film "New Jack City."
Alexander portrayed Michael Jackson in the television biopic "Man in the Mirror." He made his television debut in the series "Where I Live" and was also a series regular in Steven Bochco's "Total Security." His additional television credits include guest-starring roles on GIRLFRIENDS, CUTS, "New York Undercover," "Brooklyn South," UPN's "The Parkers," as well as the television movies "Ice" and "Santa and Pete," co-starring James Earl Jones and Hume Cronyn. He also starred in UPN's comedy "Homeboys in Outer Space."
Alexander earned his second consecutive NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
Alexander's feature film credits include New Line's "Pacific Air 121," opposite Samuel L. Jackson; "I'm Perfect," opposite Wayne Brady; "Her Minor Thing," opposite Estella Warren; "City of Industry," opposite Harvey Keitel; "The Sixth Man," co-starring Marlon Wayans and Kadeem Hardison; and "Out Cold."
He also enjoyed a successful stand-up comedy career, having performed everywhere from Manhattan's Uptown Comedy Club (one of the most challenging venues for a comedian) and Stand Up New York to The Improv, The Laugh Factory, Showtime at the Apollo, and The Comic Strip, among many other clubs and universities around the country.
A self-proclaimed "sports nut," Alexander is always ready for a game of basketball. He is especially proud of the fact that he can dunk. He is also an avid golfer and participates in as many as 10 charity golf tournaments a year.
Alexander attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City, majoring in architecture, and loves to draw in his spare time.
