A native of Lexington, KY, George was born into a family of performers. His father, Nick Clooney, was a TV newscaster of some fame. With family members like cousin Miguel Ferrer and aunt Rosemary Clooney, George felt the effects of the acting bug. He tried out at broadcast journalism but, fearing cometition with his father, he bowed out in search for other things. He next set his sights on baseball. He was good, very good, nearly making it on the Cincinnati Reds before deciding to give acting a try. His cousin Miguel Ferrer was able to arrange for him to make a few cameos in small films.

Studying acting at The Beverly Hills Playhouse in California, he became the classic starving artist, for several years, before landing a reoccuring role in The FActs of Life. He continued working in television landing another reoccuring role on Rosanne, before getting his big break with the medical drama ER. Instantly George was thrust into super-stardom, finally geting recognition for his talent.

Finally with the level of clout he was seeking, he began to segway from TV to film. Starring in some of the bigest films of the past few years, his star has shone brighter and brighter while he attempted to maintain control of his private life. Disgusted with the invasiveness of the paparazzi, George boycotted Entertainment Tonight, the sister show of Hard Copy, which had filmed Clooney without his permission.

Lately George has turned his sights behind the camera, producing such films as Rock Star, Insomnia, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, which he is also directing.
